Abstract :
Sacred Defense poetry serves as a powerful medium for conveying themes such as sacrifice, martyrdom, resistance, and patriotism—elements that constitute an essential part of the cultural and national identity of Iranian society.These poems preserve and transmit the culture of resilience and endurance across generations, ensuring the perpetuation of these core values. Analyzing Sacred Defense poetry provides deeper insights into the status and evolution of epic and social poetry within contemporary Persian literature. These poems, by fostering a sense of national solidarity, act as a bridge between generations, preserving cultural memory and reinforcing collective identity. This study aims to investigate the linguistic and rhetorical characteristics of selected poems from the Provincial Festival of Sacred Defense Poetry in Khorasan.The research seeks to demonstrate how resistance literature and Sacred Defense poetry not only offer solace in confronting the traumas of war but also reinforce a sense of pride and identity within the community.To achieve this, the study employs a descriptive-analytical method, analyzing the structural, syntactic, lexical, and discursive features of the selected poems, along with evaluating the rhetorical devices and literary techniques applied within them. The findings reveal that Sacred Defense poetry demonstrates a high degree of linguistic coherence, enriched through the strategic use of literary devices such as simile, metaphor, irony, and metonymy, all of which enhance the poems’ emotional and semantic depth. Moreover, the expressive style of these poems reflects a harmonious interplay of narrative and emotional elements, effectively conveying the epic and value-laden messages of Sacred Defense
