Analysis of the moral origin of religion based on the Qur'anic and theological views of Sheikh Mofid

Abstract :
Research on the origin of religion has always been one of the main and important issues in the field of religious studies. Philosophers and theologians have not been indifferent to this issue and have had approaches to the question of what is the origin of religion.
Sheikh Mufid (AS), who is among the theologians with extraordinary expertise in the field of theology and understanding the Quran, has provided valuable answers to this question. The present study aims to examine and analyze the moral origins of religion from the perspective of this respected Imami theologian, which can therefore provide an appropriate answer to the aforementioned question.
The divine nature of man, the philosophy of human creation, and the human motivation to acquire divine knowledge are among the things that Sheikh Mufid (may Allah have mercy on him) mentions as the origins of religion, which have moral foundations. Among other things that this Shiite theologian mentions as the origins of religion, we can mention divine justice and the necessity of a divine guide for man. He also discusses the moral origins of religion.
The latter can be considered the most important and detailed discussion on the moral origin of religion. In this topic, the necessity of the existence of prophets and the necessity of the existence of infallible Imams (AS) are discussed separately.
