Abstract :
Introduction: Addiction relapse is a multifaceted phenomenon influenced by biological, psychological, and social factors. The aim of this study was to investigate the causes of addiction relapse among young people, with an emphasis on family-related factors.
Method: This research was a descriptive study. The statistical population consisted of young individuals aged between 18 and 35 who revisited addiction treatment centers in Golestan province for relapse treatment. A sample size of 200 individuals was selected based on the descriptive nature of the study and Shourcheh’s recommendation. The sampling method was convenience sampling. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire. To determine the validity of the instrument, face validity was used. The reliability of the scale was assessed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, which was calculated to be 0.92. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 19 and the Chi-square and Friedman tests.
Findings: From the perspective of addicted youth, the most influential factor in their addiction relapse was bad company (Mean = 11.72). Other factors in descending order included: inadequate family support, poor family control, misinformation and false beliefs, inefficiency of the educational system, easy accessibility to drugs, geographical environment, unemployment, marital conflicts, economic issues, lack of recreational activities and leisure, economic inequality, and family coercion.
Conclusion: Addiction relapse among young people is influenced by various factors. In this regard, bad company, inadequate family support, and poor family control played significant roles in the return of youth to addiction.
