Abstract :

Research Objective:

The national identity of female athletes, as one of the most significant social components of professional sports, is shaped by various factors and develops within the societal context. This study aims to examine the perspectives of officials, coaches, and technical staff regarding the social factors influencing female athletes' commitment to national identity.

Research Methodology: This study is applied and descriptive in nature. It follows a sequential mixed-method exploratory approach, employing an interpretive strategy with qualitative content analysis using thematic analysis, and a positivist approach with descriptive-analytical methods, including survey and correlation analyses.

Statistical Population: In the qualitative phase, the research involved 28 theoretical and practical experts selected through purposive and snowball sampling until theoretical saturation was reached. In the quantitative phase, the statistical population included federation presidents, coaches, and technical staff, with a focus on sports disciplines such as taekwondo, karate, kabaddi, hockey, football, futsal, and volleyball. The sample size was determined using Cochran's formula and selected through random probabilistic sampling. In certain cases, federation presidents were chosen using a complete enumeration approach. Data collection tools included semi-structured interviews and a researcher-developed questionnaire. Qualitative analysis was performed using coding through MAXQDA software, while quantitative analysis employed descriptive and inferential statistics, including confirmatory factor analysis.

Findings and Conclusion: The social factors influencing Iranian female athletes' commitment to national identity, particularly in the dimension of "commitment to social identity," were identified through 19 indicators.
