Abstract :

 The present study examines the effect of leading institutional investors on investment and capital structure in the initial public offering of shares of start-up companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange. For this purpose, following the study of Sharma et al. (2024), the effect of leading institutional investors on the number of investors and capital structure of companies was examined in two separate models. Also, the effect of the variables of operating cash flows, company age, company size, GDP growth, market-to-book value, sales growth, profitability, and tangible assets was controlled in regression models. The present study is classified as a descriptive-correlational research in terms of its applied purpose and data collection method. Also, in order to select the sample size, systematic exclusion sampling (screening) was used, and according to the conditions considered, 37 companies were finally analyzed in a seven-year period between 2016 and 2022 (a total of 259 company-years). To examine the hypotheses, multivariate regression methods using Eviews8 software and using the panel data method - fixed effects have been used. The results obtained in this study show that overall, leading institutional investors have a significant effect on investment and capital structure in the initial public offering of shares of start-up companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange.
