Prediction of fear of being single based on love trauma, Dark Tetrad Personality Traits and early maladaptive schemas

Abstract :

One of the important phenomena that has recently attracted the attention of marriage and family specialists is the fear of being single. In its study, it is important to pay attention to factors related to previous relationship experiences, personality factors, and attitudes. One of the important phenomena that has recently attracted the attention of marriage and relationship experts is the fear of being single. In examining it, attention to interactional, personality, and attitudinal factors is importan .The present study was conducted to predict the fear of being single based on the love trauma,  DarkTetrad Personality Traits and early maladaptive schemas. The statistical population included the students of Central Tehran Azad University in the academic year of  2023, and 313 people were selected by available sampling according to the entry and exit criteria. To collect data from the fear of being single scale(Spielman et al, 2013), Love Trauma Inventory  (Ross, 1999), Dark Tetrad Personality Traits (Yousfi and Imanzad, 2019) , and Young schema questionnaire short form(Waller et al, 2001) .Data analysis was done by Pearson correlation and step-by-step multivariate regression in SPSS-25 software. The results showed that the correlation between love trauma, Machiavellian personality, sadistic personality, disconnection and rejection schemas, and impaired autonomy and performance schemas with fear of being single was significant (P<0.05), as well as impaired autonomy and performance schemas and Machiavellian personality respectively predicted 0.12 of the variance of the fear of being single. According to the results obtained from this research, it can be said that the damages related to the concept of autonomy and our attitude towards honesty and justice in emotional relationships are the most important in the changes of the fear of being single. A low sense of autonomy, deceptive behaviors and attitudes, and lack of honesty lead to an increase in the feeling of fear of being single.
