Abstract :
Objective: This study investigates the ecophysiological factors affecting the growth and development of peppermint (Mentha × Piperita) and aims to identify strategies for optimizing these factors to enhance cultivation and medicinal benefits.
Materials and Methods: The research conducted a comprehensive review of existing literature, focusing on critical elements such as light intensity, temperature, soil composition, and nutrient availability. The study examines their impacts on photosynthesis, metabolic processes, and overall plant health.
Results and Discussion: Key findings indicate that optimal temperatures ranging from 60°F to 70°F, along with adequate moisture, significantly enhance peppermint growth and essential oil production. Soil quality, particularly the presence of organic matter and essential nutrients, is crucial for robust growth. Furthermore, the study identifies that environmental stresses, including extreme temperatures and humidity, can diminish yield and increase susceptibility to diseases.
Conclusions: This study advocates for adaptive management strategies to address challenges posed by climate change. It emphasizes the importance of integrating ecological understanding into agricultural practices to support sustainable peppermint cultivation and enhance ecosystem resilience.
