Methodology: The research method is the content analysis of scientific texts, and it was conducted with a scientometric approach using scientometric software and the Web of Science database. The study's time frame includes texts published in this database from 1900 to 2023. Excel and VOS viewer software were used for data analysis.
Results: The findings of the study show that the field of hypochondriasis has been studied in the Web of Science in the form of 7,488 documents (articles, books, etc.). The most published documents in the field of hypochondriasis in the Web of Science are journal articles, with 6,875 documents. Most of the works in this field have been studied by researchers from the United States, England, and Germany, and by Harvard University, Johannes Gutenberg University, and Regina University. Iran, with more than 1.6% share of participation and 122 scientific works, ranks eighteenth internationally. The study of the trend of scientific production growth in the field of hypochondriasis shows a significant increase in studies in recent years, so that the most outputs and citations in this field have occurred in the years 2022 and 2023. The words "depression," "health anxiety," "hypochondriasis," "COVID-19," "somatoform disorders," "mental health," "symptoms and disorders," "stress," "quality of life," and "primary care" have the highest frequency in documents related to this research field.
Conclusion: Psychology researchers can use the results of this research to identify their research collaborators around the world and increase international collaboration. This research can influence the direction of future research in this field.
Originality and Value: This analysis indicates that hypochondriasis studies focus on various aspects of this phenomenon and examine its relationship with other psychological and physical issues.
