Relationship between moderate intensity training with mental health and sleep quality in active diabetic patients during the outbreak of Covid-19 disease

Abstract :
Background and purpose: Covid-19 disease has spread rapidly around the world and has had a numerous effect on health and other aspects of human life. The virus has diverse effects on different parts of the body, including the nervous system, and different stratums of society have been affected. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between physical activity with moderate intensity and general health and sleep quality in active diabetic patients during the outbreak of Covid-19 disease.
Method: The present study is a descriptive-correlational article. The statistical sample consisted of 180 diabetic patients who have medical record in a specialized diabetes clinic in Babol were selected by available sampling and participated in the research through social media by distributing online questionnaire links. The required data were provided through standard questionnaires included The Physical Activity (IPAQ), General Health (GHQ-28), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Questionnaire (PSQI). Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS, the statistical software, version 26.
Results: The findings show that there is a positive and significant relationship between physical activity with moderate intensity and general health and sleep quality in active diabetic patients during the outbreak of Covid-19 disease.
Conclusion: physical activity with moderate intensity plays an important role in sleep quality and general health of active diabetic patients and targeting this variable can be effective in improving sleep quality and general health of active diabetic patients during the Covid-19 epidemic.
