Abstract :

Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of professional ethics on accountants' perfectionism, as well as the moderating role of spiritual intelligence.

Method: This study employs an applied approach in terms of purpose, utilizes field research as its method, and adopts a descriptive-survey design for data collection. The statistical population of this study comprises accountants and financial managers in Yazd City. The sample size was determined to be 386 individuals using the Cochran formula. To assess professional ethics, we utilized the standard questionnaire developed by Ghasemzadeh (2014), the perfectionism scale created by Najarian et al. (2019), and the spiritual intelligence measure established by King (2008). The collected data were analyzed using structural equation modeling with PLS3 software.

Findings: Professional ethics has a positive and significant impact on perfectionism. Additionally, spiritual intelligence positively and significantly influences the relationship between honesty and perfectionism, but it does not affect other dimensions of professional ethics.

Conclusion: Professional ethics and spiritual intelligence will enhance motivation and self-confidence among accountants by fostering a healthier and more efficient work environment, ultimately guiding them toward achieving high performance standards. Paying attention to these factors will not only enhance the quality of accounting services but also boost accountants' job satisfaction. Consequently, accountants who possess these characteristics can develop more realistic expectations of themselves and, as a result, experience healthier perfectionism
