Abstract :
The study of human-environment transactions has been a popular theme among researchers and academics, and has led to development of numerous theories. This aim of this study is twofold. Firstly, it tries to clarify the connection between design criteria in urban settings in relation to the fields of medicine and traditional wisdom, and also to extract their shared patterns and criteria which can help to further clarify the role of human-environment relationship in the context of natural phenomena; and secondly, it aims to identify and present the proper criteria for environmental design to improve the quality of human-environment transactions in the city of Yazd. Based on its aim, this is an applicable study which uses an analytical-explorative approach. At the first step, the criteria have been identified and then their interrelationships have been explored and analyzed .In the section of Data Analyzes, in the first phase, 27 criteria have been identified through interviews with experts; and in the second phase the mutual effects of these criteria and key factors using Mic Mac software. The results indicate that there are 6 criteria in total to be observed as the most important ones in environmental design in Yazd including: the wind direction, nature of colors, intensity of light, the temperament of climate, site topography and intensity of the basics. The proposed solutions include color verity, northern and eastern openings, proper use of wind, familiarity with the temperament of the place and paying attention to neighboring elements and the location of materials.
