Magnetite-TiO2@Cysteine as a new Nano photocatalyst in the removal of Methylene blue from wastewater

Abstract :
Synthetic dyes are a common contaminant in industrial effluents. One of the best ways to treat industrial effluents is to use the photocatalytic activity of semiconductors, especially titanium dioxide. In this study, first iron nanoxide was synthesized by co-precipitation method and then iron oxide-titanium oxide nanocomposite was synthesized by sol-gel method. Cisene was used to correct the surface. The use of cysteine, in addition to reducing the energy gap of titanium dioxide, increases the adsorption of methylene blue pollutant molecules on the surface of the titanium dioxide photocatalyst. Investigation and identification of cysteine-modified magnetic titanium dioxide nanoparticles Tio2.m@Cyc) was performed using FTIR, XRD, EDX, FESEM and VSM analyzes. Then, using the mini-tab software and experiment design method, the parameters affecting the adsorption process such as pH, irradiation time, temperature and the amount of adsorbent used were investigated and optimized. The results showed that the optimal test conditions were pH = 5.5, irradiation time 55 minutes, temperature 20 ° C and the amount of adsorbent used was 38 mg / l of adsorbent.
