Abstract :
Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to study the prediction of marital heartbreak based on occupational stress and emotional self-regulation in firemen of Tehran.
Methodology: The present study was an applied, descriptive, correlational type study with the purpose of prediction, which was conducted in the period of 1401-1402, and the statistical population of the study included all the firemen of Tehran city (N=4260), of which 270 firemen were The multi-stage cluster sampling method was chosen and entered into the research. The standard questionnaires of Baynes (1996) marital distress (CBM), occupational stress of Spio and Spoken (1987) and emotional self-regulation by Hoffman and Kashdan (2010) were used as research tools.
Findings: Based on the regression analysis carried out in SPSS software, it was found that the variables of job stress and emotional self-regulation (adaptability, concealment and tolerance) are suitable predictors for marital heartbreak (P<0.05 and the coefficient of influence 0.27/ 0, 0.339, 0.187 and 0.441). Also, marital heartbreak has a significant relationship with job stress and emotional self-regulation components (P<0.05 and correlation coefficient 0.259, -0.525, 0.463 and -0.313) and job stress also has a significant relationship. There was a correlation with the components of concealment and tolerance of emotional self-regulation (P<0.05, 0.247 and -0.195).
Conclusion: Based on the results, it was stated that marital heartbreak was predicted based on job stress and emotional self-regulation in Tehran firefighters. For this reason, it is suggested that the ministry and effective organizations such as the Ministry of Health, by entering this sector, should carry out appropriate activities in order to control occupational stress in the category of stressful jobs such as firefighting.
