Abstract :
Goldmann is one of the thinkers of the sociology of literature. He is considered the founder of a new method in this field with his critical method known as structuralism. Since Goldmann believes that the literary work is the result of the culture and collective consciousness of the author's class, age and generation, the current research is based on the structural-developmental approach. In his method Goldmann attempts to create a meaningful relationship between literary works and the most important aspects of social life. Hanna Mina, a Syrian author, is one of the novelists who seeks to express the hopes, hardships and tribulations of his social class in his works, especially the novel "Sail and Storm". Therefore, reading this novel is a necessity. By studying the works of Hanna Mina, the common positions of the author with some classes of society are determined in the internal and external construction of the novel. This research classifies the structure of the novel in two levels of analysis of the social background and the cultural background of the novel shedding light on Goldmann's theory. This study includes the discovery of the aesthetics of the formative structure of the novel in terms of understanding and interpreting the its connecting elements with the outside world. Additionally, one important aim of this study is the analytical expansion of the novelist who tries to analyze all his characters through the novel and its dimensions.
