Abstract :

Society has gradually realized that the actions of companies have consequences for it. By disclosing quality information, companies can fulfill a part of their accountability to the society and provide a better decision-making ground for the stakeholders. The main purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of audit committee characteristics and social responsibilities on disclosure quality. The statistical population of this research is all the companies admitted to the Tehran Stock Exchange and the statistical sample includes 149 companies admitted to the Tehran Stock Exchange, which were investigated during the years 2013 to 2020. In this research, multivariate regression statistical analysis has been used to test the research hypotheses. The results of the research show that the financial expertise of the audit committee and social responsibilities have a direct effect on the quality of disclosure, but the size of the audit committee does not have a significant effect on it. The results related to the control variables also showed that the company size variable has no effect on the disclosure quality. But the financial leverage has an inverse effect on it and the return on assets has a direct effect on it.
