Comparative study of social health among user and non-user youth in libraries affiliated with Iran Public Libraries Foundation (Case study: Public libraries in 5th District of Tehran)

Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to investigate the comparative study of social health among young and inactive youth in libraries affiliated to the Public Libraries of Iran (Case Study: Tehran Public Libraries District 5). The research is applied in terms of type, survey-descriptive, and correlative in terms of purpose. The statistical population of this study included all young and inactive youth in public libraries in 5th district of Tehran. Using Cochran formula, according to the number of young people aged 18 to 25, out of 1638 young people using these libraries, 342 individuals were selected as sample, out of which 303 questionnaires were completed correctly. 281 questionnaires were filled in randomly to collect social health data of youth with disabilities. The data collection tool was Keyes Social Health Questionnaire (2003). Descriptive and inferential statistics (Spearman's test, Levin test, Kruskal Wallis test, t-student test and ANOVA test) were used for data analysis. In general, the results showed a positive and significant relationship between social health and public library use. Also, there was week but positive relationship between gender, marital status, and employment status, in young users and nonusers youth in using public libraries. Also results showed that there are not any relation between age and degree of education in young users and non users of public libraries of tehran 5th district.
