Abstract :
Being one of the most critical principles in education, students’ individual differences indicate differences of their capacities, this requires a thorough understanding of students’ talents. This study is an attempt to determine the relationship of students’ musical intelligence with their educational progress. This study investigates this relationship at a primary school’s third grade in Karhrizak district, Tehran selecting 181 participants on a random sampling basis with a descriptive correlational approach. The relevant variables’ data was provided by Gardeners’ multiple intelligences test and research questionnaire. Student progress was measured by students’ average grade at the end of the school year. The regression analysis and Pearson correlation coefficient indicated that musical intelligence variable has a positive, significant relationship with students’ progress. The test also revealed parents’ educational level is associated with children’s musical intelligence; parents with higher educational attainment have kids with higher musical intelligence. Results also indicated that housewives’ kids tend to have higher musical intelligence. The results of regression analysis indicated an insignificant relationship between musical intelligence and parents’ jobs.
