Abstract :
Background & Aims: Measuring children's psychological well-being is an important effort because it allows for a relationship between the mental and psychological well-being of children. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the validity and reliability of the 24-item psychological well-being scale for children (PWB-c) derived from Ryff's scales of Psychological Well-being. Materials & Methods: The research was conducted with descriptive method and it was of validation type. The statistical population of the study consisted of all primary school children aged 8-12 in Isfahan city in the school year of 2017-18 so that 300 students (150 female and 150 male) were selected through randomized cluster sampling method. Using Cronbach's alpha, structural equations and confirmatory factor analysis, the construct validity of the scale was investigated by spss.22 and lisrel 8.80. Results: The results showed the goodness fit of the model, and the general structure of the tested relations was confirmed in the first order factor analysis through the obtained data (IFI, NFI, CFI, RFI and GFI indices greater than .90 and PNFI greater than 0.5; Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) is less than 0.08; X2/df are smaller than 3). Cronbach's alpha coefficients of the whole psychological well-being scale for children and all of its subscales (environmental mastery=.76, individual growth=.70, purpose in life=.70, self-acceptance=.83, self-determination=.90, and positive relationships with others=.73) were greater than .70, indicating the acceptability of the scale reliability. Conclusion: The results of the research showed that the psychological well-being scale for children (PWB-c) has an acceptable validity and reliability for measuring the psychological well-being of children in Iran.
