Abstract :

Rhinoplasty is one of the popular surgeries in the world and Iran. Compared to men, women tend to have more cosmetic surgeries, especially rhinoplasty. Physical appearance is an important aspect of personal identity and its relationship with a person's self-perception begins early in life. On the other hand, dissatisfaction with body image, body deformity disorder, poor self-esteem, mental health problems, social conformity, cultural factors and media advertising are among the influential factors that lead to the tendency of people to perform cosmetic surgeries. The aim of the current research is to investigate social norms based on the metacognitive assessment of body deformity and psychological capital and spiritual well-being in women applying for nose surgery. The research method is descriptive and analytical using library resources. Studies have shown that dissatisfaction with body image can lead to a decrease in psychological capital. Psychological capital is related to a wide range of behavioral, cognitive and health variables, including spiritual well-being. As people with body dysmorphic disorder place increasing importance on their appearance, decreased psychological capital and spiritual well-being can lead them to conform more to social pressures and norms and desire rhinoplasty. The variables of psychological capital and spiritual well-being were effective in conformity to demand and desire for rhinoplasty, but the metacognitive assessment of body deformity in surveys did not have an impact on social conformity in the demand for rhinoplasty. Social conformity and psychological capital and spiritual well-being had an effect on the metacognitive evaluation of the body.
