Identifying the developmental factors of sports tourism in Iraq

Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to identifying the developmental factors of sports tourism in Iraq. The research method was descriptive-survey and quantitative research. The statistical population of the study included all experts from the two Iraqi Ministries of Sports and Youth; the Iraqi Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, as well as academic experts in the fields of physical education and tourism in Iraq (n=108). The research tool was a researcher-made questionnaire whose face and content validity were confirmed by 10 university professors in Iraq and members of the research team in Iran. The reliability of the questionnaire for the two sections of development factors and development barriers were 0.79 and 0.80, respectively. Analysis of the collected data confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the factor structure of the identified variables and 44 items in 8 dimensions of public infrastructure, sports infrastructure, information and advertising, managerial-executive, hosting of sporting events, natural, legal-political and social attractions - culture Were confirmed as factors in the development of sports tourism. In the section of barriers of sports tourism, 16 items in three dimensions of safety - security, organizational - management and socio - cultural were approved. Based on the one-sample t-test, it can be said that the situation of all factors of sports tourism development in Iraq is higher than average, but the situation of executive management factor was lower than average. Sports tourism is a long way off in Iraq.
