Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the predictability of the formation of the concept of the meaning of life based on the different dimensions of personal identity among the students of Tonekabon University. The research method is descriptive – correlational. The statistical population of the present study included the total number of the students of Tonekabon Islamic Azad University in the second semester of 2019 -2920 academic year. First the list of the names of all the students of the second semester of 2019 -2020 academic year was obtained then the required sample group was randomly selected and the questionnaires were sent to them. According to the number of predictable variables, for each predictor variables, 50 people were considered as research sample. 150 students were selected by simple random sampling method. Data collection tools were standard questionnaires (Stigger et al’s Meaning of Life questionnaire 2002, Check et al’s Dimension of Identity Questionnaire 2002) to analyze the data. Correlation and the stepwise and linear regression tests were used which showed the following results: Collective Identity (0.694), Social Identity (0.547), Communicative Identity (0.414), Personal Identity (0.247). The above mentioned results showed that there exists a coefficient correlation between dimensions of identity and the predictability of the concept of the meaning of life between the students.
