Abstract :
The present research aimed to compare the problemsolving styles and fear of assertiveness of students with conduct disorder (CD) and normal students. Forty adolescent boys diagnosed as having CD, based on teacher ratings and 40 normal students were selected for the study. All participants were matched by age, grade, sex and academic achievement. The instruments used in the research consisted of Problem-Solving Styles Inventory, CSI- 4 Questionnaire and Fear of Assertiveness Inventory. T-test results demonstrate that positive problem-solving styles of the CD group was significantly lower than the normal group (P<0/02), with fear of assertiveness being significantly higher than the normal group (P<0/05). Results also show that students with conduct disorder are unable to make efficient use of cognitive and social skills in personal and social situations, in contrast to their normal peers.
