The Relationship Between Librarians' Knowledge-Management Skills And Service Innovation (Case Study: Public Libraries Of Semnan Province)

Abstract :
Objective: One of the sources of meeting the information needs of citizens is the public libraries. Public libraries need experienced and creative librarians to provide services to their users so that they can use their knowledge and experience. By using creative ideas and knowledge sharing, public libraries can connect people and maintain the excellence of the organization and its position in the society. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between knowledge management and service innovation in public libraries of Semnan province Methodology: The current research was conducted in terms of practical purpose using survey. To collect data, the questionnaire of Islam, Agrawal, and Aqida was used and distributed among the sample. The statistical population was the librarians of public libraries in Semnan province. The sample size was determined according to Morgan table 89 Librarians. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software. Validity and reliability have already been confirmed in the research of Batani. Cronbach's alpha test was used for the reliability of the present study, and the coefficient was 0.93.Results: Findings showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between knowledge management (with the sub-comparisons of knowledge acquisition and creation, r = 0.658; knowledge dissemination and transfer, r = 0.709; use and Application of knowledge, r = 0.782) and innovation in library services. Examining the favorable state of innovation in library services and knowledge management shows that in all variables, the sample average is higher than the theoretical average, and the state of innovation in library services and knowledge management was favorable among library employees in Semnan province.Conclusion: The results of the present study showed the relationship between knowledge management and service innovation in public libraries in Semnan province. Examining the desirability of the state of innovation in library services and knowledge management showed that in all the investigated variables, the sample average was higher than the theoretical average, this indicates that the public library librarians of Semnan province have new ideas and provide services to the users and offer new services. Knowledge management plays an important role in the innovation process by creating a culture of knowledge sharing in libraries.
