Steel shear walls, like bracings are a resistance system against wind and earthquake loads, which have more advantages than other systems. This paper is investigating the influence of openings on steel shear walls under increasing static loads. For this purpose, the experiments of other researchers on finite elements method have been checked and after investigating the correctness and precision of the finite elements model, several rectangular openings have been put in different parts of the panel and stiffness and resistance of the panel in these moods have been investigated. The amount of effectiveness of the opening in displacement of the steel shear walls has been investigated and the results showed that the rate of sensitivity of the models to openings has increased by its approximation to the edge of the panel. Also, in all samples, the tension in the edges of the openings has increased and the edges need to be reinforced.
