2 - A multi-objective model for closed-loop supply chain optimization and efficient supplier selection in a competitive environment considering quantity discount policy

Supplier selection and allocation of optimal order quantity are two of the most important processes in closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) and reverse logistic (RL). So that providing high quality raw material is considered as a basic requirement for a manufacturer to produce popular products, as well as achieve more market shares. On the other hand, considering the existence of competitive environment, suppliers have to offer customers incentives like discounts and enhance the quality of their products in a competition with other manufacturers. Therefore, in this study, a model is presented for CLSC optimization, efficient supplier selection, as well as orders allocation considering quantity discount policy. It is modeled using multi-objective programming based on the integrated simultaneous data envelopment analysis–Nash bargaining game. In this study, maximizing profit and efficiency and minimizing defective and functions of delivery delay rate are taken into accounts. Beside supplier selection, the suggested model selects refurbishing sites, as well as determining the number of products and parts in each network’s sector. The suggested model’s solution is carried out using global criteria method. Furthermore, based on related studies, a numerical example is examined to validate it.

Certain inventory items are living organisms, for example livestock, and are therefore capable of growing during the replenishment cycle. These items often serve as various saleable food items downstream in supply chains. The purpose of this paper is to develop a lot sizing model for growing items if the supplier of the items offers incremental quantity discounts. A mathematical model is derived to determine the optimal inventory policy which minimises the total inventory cost in both the owned and rented facilities. A solution procedure for solving the model is developed and illustrated through a numerical example. Sensitivity analysis is performed to demonstrate the response of the order quantity and total costs to some key input parameters. Incremental quantity discounts result in reduced purchasing costs; however, ordering very large quantities has downsides as well. The biggest downsides include the increased holding costs, the risks of running out of storage capacity and item deterioration since the cycle time increases if larger quantities are purchased. Owing to the importance of growing items in the food supply chains, the model presented in this article can be used by procurement and inventory mangers when making purchasing decisions.

Vendor selection decisions are complicated by the fact that various conflicting multi-objective factors must be considered in the decision making process. The problem of vendor selection becomes still more compli-cated with the inclusion of incremental discount pricing schedule. Such hard combinatorial problems when solved using meta heuristics produce near optimal solutions. This paper proposes a multi-component multiple vendor selection model with vendors offering quantity discounts. This problem is then evaluated using Ge-netic Algorithm with a case study approach. Combinatorial approach is used to group the vendors for selec-tion and Genetic Algorithm to allocate the optimal order quantities for each vendor.
