This study was performed to determine the effects of different levels of chromium methionine (Cr-Met)supplementation on growth performance, meat oxidative stability and ruminal metabolites in male kids. Thirty-two male Mahabadi goat kids, with an average initial body weight (BW) of 22 ± 2 kg at 4 months of age, were allocated in a completely randomized design with four treatments: control without Cr and three levels of Cr supplementation 0.5, 1 and 1.5 mg respectively as Cr-Met/animal/d. Diets were the same for the all groups with a ratio forage: concentrate of 30:70, except for the addition of Cr-Met. The animals were fed in two equal meals (at 08:00 and 16:00 h) and the leavings were collected before the morning meal. Animals were kept in individual pens for 100 days. Kids were weighed after 10 days of adaptation period and at 21 days intervals after feed restriction. Kids were slaughtered at the end of the trial and Longissimus dorsimuscle (LDM) samples were immediately stored at -20 ˚C. Thio Barbioturic Acid Reactive Substances (TBARS) methods were used in order to measure meat stability. SupplementalCr-Met did not affect (P>0.05) the final BW, total BW gain, dry matter intake (DMI) and average daily gain (ADG). Concentrations of NH3-N and total and individual volatile fatty acids (VFA) in the rumen were not affected by the Cr-Met (P>0.05). However, Cr-Met supplementation increased rumen pH and decreased ruminal protozoa count (P<0.05). TBARS values of the LDM were significantly increased as the storage time increased from 1 to 2 months (P<0.05). It was also found that increasing dietary chromium supplementation, especially at level of 1.5 mg Cr-Met, significantly decreased lipid oxidation and the TBARS value at 2 months of storage (P<0.05). These results indicate that supplementation of goat kid diet with Cr-Met had minimal effects on growth performance and rumen metabolites but improved oxidative stability of LDM during refrigerated storage kids. تفاصيل المقالة

Today, researches have shown that the best and most effective way to reduce the incidence of disorders related to pesticides and prevent their transfer to the milk and other animal products is the application of adsorbents or bonding compounds. This study aimed to investigate the effects of different toxin adsorbents (Mycofix-Plus, Bio-Tox, Bio-Acid) on the amount of diazinon residues in grape pomace, and their effects on milk production and composition and toxin residues in it. In this study, 20 Mahabadi breed dairy goats were used with 4 experimental treatments and 5 replications in a completely randomized design. The milk production was significantly affected by Bio-Tox and Mycofix-Plus adsorbents (P<0.05). Adsorbents had a positive and significant role in reducing the amount of diazinon toxins in the feed (P<0.05). At the same time, Bio-Tox adsorbent had the greatest impact on the reduced amount of diazinon toxins in diets with high levels of grape pomace. The amount of toxins transferred to the milk was significantly reduced under the effect of Bio-Tox and Bio-Acid (P<0.05) which was lower than maximum residues limit for diazinon in milk. Generally, the results revealed that the toxin adsorbent compounds decreased the amount of diazinon toxins in diets with high levels of grape pomace and resulted in healthier products in addition to assuring the safety of milk and increasing the efficiency of milk yield. In this study, Bio-Tox and Bio-Acid were more effective in reducing diazinon residue in milk. تفاصيل المقالة

Acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase α (ACC-alpha) is considered as the key regulatory enzyme in fatty acid biosynthesis. ACC-alpha gene is located on Caprine chromosome 11 and is polymorphic in many goat breeds. In the current study, we aimed to find possible single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the exon 1 region of the ACC-alpha gene in Iranian Mahabadi goat breed. Genomic DNA was extracted from blood samples of 150 Mahabadi does. The exon 1 region of the ACC-alpha gene was amplified to produce a 390 bp fragment. The PCR products were analyzed by both polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) and polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism (PCR-SSCP) techniques. RFLP was performed utilizing HinfI endonuclease enzyme. No polymorphism was observed after digestion of the PCR products using HinfI. However, SSCP of the PCR products revealed two conformation patterns at the exon 1 region of goat ACC-alpha gene with frequencies of 86% and 14%, respectively. Sequencing the observed conformation patterns presented more than 10 SNPs compared with its reported squences in the exon 1 region of ovine ACC-alpha gene. Most observed polymorphic sites did not follow the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Sequence results indicated more similarity in the exon 1 of the ACC-alpha gene among indigenous sheep and goat breeds. تفاصيل المقالة
