چکیده انگلیسی:
For detection of antibodies against Avian Metapneumovirus (aMPV) in broiler breeder flocks of Iran, serum samples were collected from 15 flocks and tested by ELISA method. Then, clinical signs, gross lesions and histopathologic changes in positive and negative cases were recorded and were analyzed by SPSS software. The results showed that two flocks (13.3%), 29 weeks old flock (Cobb) and the other, 44 weeks old flock (Ross), were positive by ELISA method. It also showed that, infection by aMPV can cause various clinical signs such as swelling of head, conjunctivitis, and serous discharge of the eyes, serous to purulent discharge from the nostrils, sneezing and coughing. Noticeable macroscopic lesions included clear exudates in the trachea, gelatinous edema in the subcutaneous tissue of the head, inflammation, congestion and exudates in the middle turbinate of the nose and mild lesions in the infraorbital sinus, and a slight regression of oviduct. Major microscopic changes were seen by H&E staining method in the middle turbinate of the nose, infraorbital sinus and trachea were edema, congestion, epithelial exfoliation, deciliation, increasing of glandular activity and hyperplasia in mucosal glands along with mononuclear inflammatory infiltration in submucosa of the middle turbinate. These lesions were lesser in the infraorbital sinus and trachea and were absent in the lungs, liver, kidneys, oviduct, caecum and spleen. This study showed that although lesions of aMPV are not specific but histopathologic lesions can be used for confirmation of ELISA results.
