چکیده انگلیسی :
Tourism and regional development are closely related policies. Tourism policy, which is a tool for economic development and job creation, is transforming into a tool for regional development and for preserving and improving the heritage of a region. In many areas, the tourism industry is one of the largest sources of economic growth and job creation. Tourism through effective development policies can also be a tool for integrating less developed areas or giving them equal access to the benefits of growth. The present research is goal-oriented, practical, and descriptive-analytical in nature. The target population consisted of experts and specialists in the field of tourism in Sari city, with 45 experts selected through purposive cluster sampling. The data collection tool in this research was a questionnaire distributed among the 45 experts in the field of tourism. The results of the research show that the assessment of the sustainable tourism situation in Sari city has been addressed towards regional development. In examining the economic capacity criterion as one of the variables of sustainable tourism in Sari city towards regional development, it has been identified that this criterion with an average of 3.28 is higher than the theoretical median, indicating a favorable situation in Sari city. Additionally, criteria such as infrastructure and environmental conditions, management factors with averages of 3.43 and 3.15 respectively, which are higher than the theoretical median, have favorable conditions in Sari city. However, criteria such as tourism capacity, tourist attractions, service levels, structural factors, and individual factors with averages of 2.81, 2.83, 2.45, 2.86, 2.64 respectively, which are lower than the theoretical median, face weaknesses in Sari city.
