Strategies of using the Sich/Reflexive Verbs in German and Arabic: Implications for Language Teaching and Learning

Abstract :
This paper is dedicated to implications for language teaching and learning of the reflexive verbs in German and how they are interpreted in Arabic. These reflexive verbs are very common in German, but they are not common in Arabic the same way as German. Such verbs take a large area in the German language. They include verbs that take objects or accusative nouns or what is known in German as the dative case or the indirect object in English. The list of reflexive verbs has more than 40 verbs. In this paper, authors present strategies of dealing with such verbs in Arabic and how the meaning is conveyed even though the structure itself does not exist. On the other hand, it gives highlights to teachers, learners, translators and syllabus designers how they introduce such verbs in the curricula, and how to help learners of both languages understand the idea with any vagueness.
