The purpose of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of emotion-focused-couple therapy (EFCT) on marital adjustment in incompatible couples. In this research, using a semi-experimental method, two groups of experimental and control were participated in 2 phases; pre, and post test. The statistical population consisted of 31 couples among couples referred to Tehran counseling center during the fall of 2017. The sample research consisted of 20 couples (40 individuals) among couples referred to this counseling center that were selected according to the results of the Dyadic Adjustment Scale (Spanier, 1976) with cut of point of 101 and with available sampling method and were randomly assigned to two groups (experimental and control groups) (n1=n2=10 couples). The experimental group was regularly trained in emotion-focused-couple therapy during 9 sessions of 90 minutes of couple counseling sessions, once in a week. In the inferential level Analysis of Covariance Test (ANCOVA) was used. Findings showed that the emotion-focused-couple therapy, significantly increased the marital adjustment in the experimental group compared to before training and control group.
