The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of a mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) training program on the mental and physical symptoms of anxiety related to COVID-19 among high school female students. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with pre-test, post-test, and follow-up measures, including a control group. The study population consisted of high school female students in Andimeshk city, Khuzestan Province, in the year 1400 (2021). A total of 40 students who scored at least one standard deviation above the mean on the Corona Anxiety Questionnaire were voluntarily selected and randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 20) and a control group (n = 20). Participants in the experimental group received an eight-session mindfulness-based stress reduction training program, with each session lasting 90 minutes and conducted online via the Sky Room platform. Anxiety levels were assessed using the Corona Anxiety Questionnaire, and the collected data were analyzed using mixed repeated-measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) with SPSS version 22. The results indicated that mindfulness-based stress reduction significantly reduced both mental and physical symptoms of COVID-19–related anxiety in the experimental group compared to the control group. These findings suggest that mindfulness-based stress reduction can be an effective intervention for reducing students’ anxiety in critical and stressful situations, both in school and non-school contexts.
