Introduction: The aim of the present study was to design an innovation model for knowledge-based companies in the field of nanotechnology and biotechnology related to health.
Methods: This study was applied in terms of purpose and used a qualitative research method. Through semi-structured interviews with 10 experts who were purposefully selected, the final dimensions, components, and indicators of the innovation model were identified and determined. To ensure the validity of the qualitative section (face and content validity), measures such as member checking, as well as the experience and expertise of supervisors and advisors, were employed. Reliability was also ensured using the technique of calculating inter-coder reliability (repeatability index).
Results: The analysis of the obtained data led to the formation of 27 categories and 5 main themes. During this research, five factors—causal conditions of innovation, innovation outcomes, contextual conditions, intervening conditions, and innovation strategies—were selected as the main themes of the study. The results of the fuzzy Delphi method showed that all concepts related to the innovation paradigm model had an acceptance threshold higher than 0.7, and the identified components of the paradigm model were confirmed.
Conclusion: Based on the findings, creating certain conditions and removing obstacles through the use of appropriate strategies can be of great importance for policymakers in the implementation of the innovation model in knowledge-based companies in the field of nanotechnology and biotechnology related to health, to gain a competitive advantage and enhance their position at the international level.
