Purpose: The present study was conducted in 2023 with the aim of analyzing the structure of the Adolescent Self-Care Assessment Tool (Parent Form) using Classical Test Theory.
Methodology: The research method relied on psychometric techniques (factor analysis), and the instrument used was the Adolescent Self-Care Scale (Parent Form) by Azadykta (2023). The statistical population consisted of parents with sixth-grade daughters and sons in elementary school in the city of Maku during the 2023–24 academic year, of whom 480 individuals participated in the study through random sampling.
Findings: Data analysis using exploratory factor analysis with orthogonal rotation indicated that this scale consists of four valid factors, which together explained 47.54% of the total variance. The omega reliability coefficient was also obtained above 0.7, and the factor structure derived from the exploratory analysis demonstrated satisfactory fit indices (CFI, GFI, RFI, NFI, IFI) in the confirmatory factor analysis.
Conclusion: Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the Adolescent Self-Care Assessment Tool (Parent Form) possesses a valid factor structure and satisfactory fit indices. This instrument effectively measures parents’ attitudes and behaviors regarding the sexual education of their children, considering educational, nurturing, and cultural components. Its application can pave the way for targeted interventions within the family education system.
