The aim of this study was to describe the status of P.E. departments in Islamic Azad University branches from the view point of faculty members and department heads. The research method was descriptive, and it was carried out as a field survey. The statistical population was small, so 62 department heads and 249 full time and part time faculty members were selected as the statistical samples. The data were collected through questionnaires from P.E. faculty members and department heads. Before distributing the questionnaires, their validity and reliability were calculated (r=0.84). For the data analysis, F-test, T-test and Pearson Correlation Coefficient were utilized. According to the viewpoint of P.E. faculty members and department heads, the programs were on an average scale, research activities were at a low level, teaching aids and equipment were also at a low level, but sporting facilities and equipment were at a desirable level. In comparing the view point of P.E. faculty members and department heads regarding the studied variables, there was a significant difference in accomplishing the programs and strategies (p=0.025). The results of this study showed that the status of P.E. departments in Azad university branches was at different levels.
