Abstract :
Today, organizations are spending billions of dollars on training, but a trivial fraction of the training is actually transferred to the job. Because of the lack of evaluation of training transfer, organizations demand evidence of performance improvement. The main objective of this study was to discriminate farmers participating in diffusion-push plans of Fars province, Iran according to the training transfer. The research adopted a retrospective design because the data collected were related to events that had happened in the past. In terms of objective, it was an applied study since its results can be applied by planners and officials of sustainable agriculture development. The stratified random sampling technique was employed to select 120 participants of diffusion-push plans of Fars province. Data were collected with a questionnaire composed of two sections – one for the components of training transfer and the other for the farmers’ demographic characteristics. The classification results revealed that 95% of the farmers were classified correctly into ‘participants with low, moderate, and high training transfer’ groups. The participants with high training transfer were classified with slightly better accuracy (97.4%) than those with low training transfer (93.3%) and those with moderate training transfer (88.9%).
